Privacy Policy

Personal information on this site is whatever you send us when you write in — usually just a name and an email, sometimes a phone or shipping address if you're placing an order. We keep it private and we keep it minimal. We never share it with advertising networks, social platforms, analytics services, or data brokers. Internally only people who need to see it to answer your message can access it. We hold inquiry data for about a year and order data for the legal accounting period (six years in most jurisdictions). You're entitled to ask us what we have, get it in a portable format, correct it, or have it deleted; just email and we'll act within thirty days. If you ever have a concern about how we've handled your information, you can also contact your local data protection authority.

02

Cookies

Cookies on this site are limited to the basics — keeping you signed in, remembering the items you've added to your cart, and recording the language and currency you've chosen. Nothing analytical, nothing for advertising, nothing shared with a third party. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any equivalent tool. We do not embed third-party content that drops its own tracking cookies. You can clear all cookies for this domain in your browser settings and the site will continue to work. The cookie that remembers your consent choice itself expires after twelve months; you can revisit your preferences any time by clearing it.

03

Your rights over your data

A copy of your records, a correction, consent withdrawn, or full deletion — each is one email away and handled within a month, free. The only data that survives a deletion request is what tax law forces us to keep, and we will tell you exactly which lines those are.

04

Photographing children

Newborn and family sessions mean photographs of children, and we hold those to a stricter standard than anything else in the archive. Files are stored encrypted, never used for our own promotion without both parents' written consent, and deleted entirely on request without questions. Booking notes about feeding times or naps are wiped as soon as the session ends — they exist only so the shoot can flow around your baby's day.

05

Print orders

Because prints are made in-house, your order details stay in-house too: a name, a shipping address, and the frame or paper you chose. We keep order records for the legal accounting period, but shipping addresses are not reused, sold, or added to any mailing list. There is no newsletter.

06

Backups and retention

Session files are backed up to two drives kept in separate places in Kamakura. Galleries stay online for 60 days; masters are held for one year, then we email once before deletion in case you want an archive USB. If the answer is silence, the files go.

07

Questions and requests

Everything above is handled by the same person who photographed you. Ask what we hold, correct it, or have it deleted at hello@sprucecovepath.com, or by post to 3-5-8 Shichirigahama-higashi, Kamakura. Expect an answer within a few days.

08

What the website itself sees

This site runs no analytics and sets no tracking cookies. The web server keeps ordinary access logs — a timestamp, a page, an anonymised request — for ninety days for security, and they are never cross-referenced with client records.

09

Third parties, counted on one hand

Exactly two outside companies ever see a sliver of your information: the courier that carries print orders (name and address on the label) and the payment provider (billing details). Neither receives photographs, session notes, or anything else, and neither may use the data for its own purposes.

10

Your rights, summarised

Everything above reduces to this: the data is yours. You can see it, correct it, take it away, or have it destroyed, and asking costs nothing and changes nothing about how we treat you. The only records we must keep regardless are the ones Japanese tax law requires, and even those are kept minimal — an invoice line, not a life history.
